Two people were injured when a shotgun was fired through the window of their Nottingham home.

A 40-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were hurt in the incident which took place in Windmill Grove, Hucknall at 2230 GMT on Tuesday.

Both adults were taken to Queen's Medical Centre, but were discharged shortly after.

Two children, aged 13 and seven, were also present in the house but escaped without injury.

Det Insp Mick Brookes of Ashfield CID, said: "Police are treating this incident very seriously as someone, including a child, could have been killed.

"Police believe the shooting was conducted by a man who fired two shots through the window.

"He then made his escape by running away from Windmill Grove to Windmill Avenue and a car was later heard driving off at high speed."
