More than 50 children were given the chance to experience a flight in a light aircraft on Saturday.
The event is part of a scheme this weekend at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire to help create the aviators of tomorrow.
About 10 pilots are donating their time and aircraft to the Young Aviators Day.
Children taking part in the Milton Keynes Aviation Society's day come from schools and youth groups in Dunstable, Milton Keynes and Northampton areas.
The society organised the day because it wants to give children more used to watching television and playing computer games the chance to experience flight first-hand.
They said that many senior pilots started their careers by hanging around airfields and hangars so they are hoping the aviation bug will rub off on the young people taking part in the same way.
