Postal workers' strike called off
Strikers in Northampton
The action was over Royal Mail plans to bring in new working practices
A four day strike by postal workers in Northampton was called off in the early hours of Tuesday.

Hundreds of sorting and delivery staff were protesting about plans for new working practices.

Talks between union bosses and Royal Mail managers have resulted in a return to work at the sorting office in Crow Lane.

The dispute escalated when 40 sorting staff were joined by 500 from Crow Lane, St James and Wellingborough.

Managers were drafted in to try to keep collections running normally.

The strike disrupted mail deliveries to the NN1 to NN8 postcode areas and parts of the NN9 and NN29 areas.
