A man has been charged with the murder of a three-year-old girl who died after an arson attack on her Liverpool home.

Francesca Bimpson suffered 90% burns after petrol was poured through the letterbox of the house in Everton last December. She died three weeks later.

A 43-year-old man from Newport, south Wales, is charged with murder, five counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

Francesca's mother, father, brother and two sisters escaped the blaze.

The man has been remanded in custody and is due before Liverpool magistrates on Friday.
