Irresponsible dog owners could be fined

A new campaign aimed at tackling dog fouling in Wirral has been launched.

Dedicated patrols and new powers to fine irresponsible owners will aim to reduce the problem across the Merseyside borough.

The main role of Wirral Council's community and animal control teams is to raise awareness among dog walkers about cleaning up after their pets.

They will also have the powers to issue fixed penalty notices against owners who do not clean up.
