Dangerous gas cylinders monitored

Fire crews are monitoring potentially explosive gas cylinders which led homes in Warrington to be evacuated.

Residents were forced to leave properties near Lilford Avenue, Bewsey, when a fire started in a house which contained acetylene canisters.

A 25m cordon has been set up around the property, but residents were later allowed back to their homes.

Several roads were closed, while residents were sent to Bewsey Lodge Primary School.

Lilford Avenue, Penketh Avenue, Molyneux Avenue and Reid Avenue were affected by the incident, the fire service said.
