Rapist attacks teenager in alley

A 17-year-old girl was dragged to an alleyway and raped by a man who asked her the time.

The teenager was approached by the man in Frederick Street in Bolton on Thursday night.

When she pulled out her phone to check the time, the man dragged her to an alley and raped her.

The victim managed to struggle free and ran home. Greater Manchester Police said she has been left "totally traumatised" by the attack.

Det Sgt Mike Gladwin, of Bolton CID, said: "Attacks like this are horrible, and do not, fortunately, happen very often. This is no consolation to this poor girl however, and we will do everything we can to arrest her attacker.

"The victim has been very brave in giving a good description of her attacker and I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man from the description to contact us."

The rapist is described as white, in his 30s, of fattish or chubby build and about 5ft 8in tall. He had dark hair that was longer at the sides and was wearing a blue jacket.
