Bus crash kills cherry picker man

The man was trapped under the bus
A man has been killed after a cherry picker he was working in was hit by a bus in Greater Manchester.

The man, who has not been named, was knocked from the cherry picker's bucket and fell into the path of the double decker bus where he became trapped.

Police were called to the accident on Wilmslow Road in Rusholme, Manchester, shortly after 0800 GMT on Wednesday.

The man died at the scene. A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Wilmslow Road southbound from Hathersage Road was closed and traffic diverted down Moss Lane East while officers dealt with the incident.

The Heath and Safety Executive are investigating the accident and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
