Three teenagers on murder charge

Three teenagers have been charged with the murder of a 43-year-old man.

Father-of-four Mugilan Sutherman, from Rochdale, collapsed after he was attacked in Oldham Road, Failsworth, Greater Manchester, on Tuesday.

Guy Richardson, 18, of Hughes Close, Failsworth, and a 17-year-old youth appeared at Oldham Magistrates' Court on Saturday morning.

A third teenage boy, aged 17 and from Didsbury, has now been charged and is due to appear in court on Monday.

Another 17-year-old youth, arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murder, is still being held after police were given more time to question him.

Engineering degree

A 15-year-old boy remains on police bail until 28 July pending further inquiries while two teenage girls, who were arrested, have been released without charge.

The two remanded in custody are due to appear again before magistrates on Monday.

Mr Sutherman was originally from Singapore and had four sons, aged three, 11, 13 and 15.

He had obtained a degree in manufacturing engineering from Salford University and was working as an independent kitchen fitter.
