Manchester Arndale houses the UK's largest Next store
The first phase of a 150m redevelopment of Manchester's Arndale centre will open on Thursday.

The centre's trademark yellow tiles have been replaced by a steel structure covered with limestone and glass.

The new section of the mall, which faces Exchange Square, houses the largest Next store in the world, a Nike store and several bars and cafes.

The phase has taken seven years to design, and more than two years and over one million man hours to build.

The centre is owned by Prudential, who bought it from P&O in 1998.
