A teenager has been stabbed to death in east London.

Police were called to Devons Road in Bow at 1840 GMT on Sunday following reports of an injured person.

An 18-year-old male was found suffering multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held at a south London police station. Next of kin have been informed.

Police believe the boy was stabbed in a basketball court off Chiltern Road and staggered several hundred metres to Devons Road.

Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will take place on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old was the 13th teenager to be murdered in the capital this year.
