Man arrested over pensioner death

Edward Highwood
Police are inquiring whether a robbery took place before Mr Highwood's killing

Police have made an arrest in connection with the murder of a 79-year-old man in south-east London.

Edward Highwood was found with fatal head injuries at his home in Hollymount Close, Greenwich, on Sunday.

Police then discovered a computer screen was missing from Mr Highwood's property and are investigating whether a robbery took place.

On Friday they detained a 20-year-old man who is now in custody at a south London police station.

Police have previously appealed to the gay community for any information about the death of Mr Highwood, who was homosexual.

They are still exploring how the attacker got in to his house.
