Five people arrested over the fatal stabbing of a schoolboy in east London have been released on bail.

Shaquille Smith, 14, was stabbed in the stomach as he sat on a bench near his home in Hackney last month.

Police said four 17-year-olds and a man aged 18, arrested earlier this week, have been bailed while inquiries continue.

Six other teenagers have appeared in court charged with murdering Shaquille on 30 August.

A 17-year-old youth from Hackney, who cannot be named, appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody until a hearing at the Old Bailey on 12 December.

George Amponsah, 18, of Greenwood Road, Hackney, along with two youths, aged 16 and 17, also from Hackney, are due at the Old Bailey on the same date, charged with murder.

Godiowe Dufeal, 19, of Well Street, Homerton, east London, and a 16-year old male from Hackney, are both charged with murder and are due to appear at the Old Bailey on 3 October.
