A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murders of two French students in south-east London.

Daniel Sonnex, from Peckham, south-east London, has been charged with the murders of Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo, both 23.

Their bodies were found stabbed and burnt in a New Cross bedsit on 29 June.

Mr Sonnex was also charged with perverting the course of justice and is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Monday, police said.

Nigel Farmer, 33, has also been charged with the murders.

Mr Farmer, of no fixed address, has also been charged with arson and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He appeared in court earlier this week and has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 16 October.

A 35-year-old man and a woman, aged 25, have been released on bail.
