Four men rescued from house fire

Four men have been rescued from a burning house in east London.

The fire started on the ground floor of the two-storey house in Manor Park, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

In a separate incident, two women and a man were led to safety by firefighters after a fire at a flat in Catford, south London, also on Sunday.

The London Fire Brigade said the cause of both fires was under investigation but both were believed to have been started accidentally.

The brigade was called at 0328 BST on Sunday to the fire at the house in Manor Park. It was under control by 0357 BST.

The three people rescued from the fire in Catford were taken to hospital by London Ambulance crews suffering from smoke inhalation.
