Youth charged over school attack

A youth of 16 has been charged with wounding a schoolboy who was stabbed at a south London college.

Five other youths have been charged with violent disorder in connection with the stabbing at Salesian College, Surrey Lane in Battersea.

The 16-year-old victim is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

The six teenagers, aged between 14 and 17, will appear at South Western Magistrates' Court later, said a police spokesman.

'Full recovery'

The youth accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent has also been charged with violent disorder following the incident on Thursday.

Salesian College is a Roman Catholic school for boys aged 11 to 16 and has nearly 650 pupils.

A school spokesman said: "We are obviously very shocked and distressed that this incident has occurred and we hope that our pupil makes a full recovery.

"His injuries are not believed to be life threatening and we are co-operating fully with the on-going police investigation."
