Arrest after body found in river
A 54-year-old Lincolnshire man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in a river in South Lincolnshire.

Police said the body was found in the River Welland between Crowland and Deeping St James on Saturday morning.

The victim's partially clothed body was found close to a burnt-out vehicle.

Police insisted there was nothing at the moment to directly link her death to the killing of three prostitutes whose bodies were found in Suffolk.

The dead woman was aged at least 30 and "white European" in appearance, according to detectives.

A stretch of river was sealed off while forensic scientists examined the area.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the woman died in suspicious circumstances.

It is understood that no form of identification was found on the body, although some possessions have been recovered.
