Ceremony welcomes new jet fighter
Eurofighter
The project has been dogged by delays
The Typhoon Eurofighter has officially arrived in Lincolnshire.

A ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon at the aircraft's new home, RAF Coningsby, where Number 17 Squadron has reformed to take the Typhoon.

The arrival was marked by a massed flypast of Tornados, Jaguars and the new aircraft, the result of years of Europe-wide development.

The Station Commander, Group Captain Bob Judson, said it was the start of a new chapter in the station's history.

The aircraft was designed and built in a joint project between the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.

The project has suffered from a number of delays and critics say the technology and design is now out of date.
