Call for feline blood donations

Cat owners in Leicestershire are being urged to sign their pets up to a blood donor scheme.

Only four cats in the county are signed up to the Loughborough-based Pet Blood Bank UK (PBBuk).

The PBBuk is a national service which collects and stores dog and cat blood for use in surgery or transfusions.

Director Wendy Barnett said they want to collect more feline blood from mild mannered, healthy cats who are under the age of seven.

Ms Barnett said: "We want to reduce the stress for the cats, so we will got to their homes. They don't need to go in a basket and they don't need to go in the car."
