Baby's mother speaks of her grief
A mother has spoken of her devastation after her baby daughter was mauled to death by two Rottweiler dogs.

Five-month-old Cadey-Lee Deacon died after the attack at The Rocket pub in New Parks in Leicester on Saturday.

It is believed a fire exit was mistakenly left open allowing the dogs to enter the pub's living quarters and attack the infant.

In a statement issued through the police, Cadey-Lee's mother, Amy, thanked people for their support.

'Heartfelt thank you'

Ch Supt Steve Pitts read the statement on her behalf.

It said: "People have been incredible - our family and friends and the many people who have left flowers and toys outside the Rocket. It has been overwhelming.

"We would just like to say a heartfelt thank you to all those people. Your love and support is a comfort to us during this terrible time."

Police are investigating how the dogs came to attack the baby.

The two Rottweilers, which lived at the pub, were put down after the attack on Saturday.

A spokesman for Leicester Coroner's Office said a post-mortem examination would be carried out on the child on Tuesday, after which an inquest into her death would be opened.
