Boy racers 'may have car seized'
People racing cars or taking part in dangerous manoeuvres in part of Leicestershire are being warned they could have their cars seized.

Coalville police say there have been several incidents of reckless driving in some of the town's car parks.

Officers are reminding those involved that powers in the Police Reform Act allow them to seize the vehicles of persistent offenders.

Any offences committed by drivers will also be followed up.

'Consider community'

Police have already started to pay additional attention to the car parks and have intervened after seeing three vehicles doing handbrake turns and wheel spinning on the car park at the rear of Coalville open market.

One driver was reported for dangerous driving and also issued with a Section 59 of the Police Reform Act notice warning.

PC Shaun Gent, of Coalville police, said: "I ask these motorists to be considerate to other members of their community.

"If people drive dangerously or without consideration for others we will, where appropriate, make use of the new vehicle seizure powers as well as ensuring that offenders are put before the courts."
