Local archives are now available online
Reference books that have stacked the shelves at Lancashire libraries are now available online.

Dictionaries, encyclopaedias and archives can now be viewed digitally, making it easier than ever for people to find what they are looking for.

Library members can access the information from their home computers, saving them a trip to the library.

The Online Reference Library also contains local archives, newspaper cuttings and business directories.

County Councillor Chris Cheetham said: "It is fantastic value for money as an individual subscription to all these services would cost in the region of £1,000."

Local information is available via a link to the Lancashire Lantern website, which contains archive information from local newspapers as well as postcards and images from library collections covering all aspects of local life.
