University opens new 10m centre

A 10m centre to pioneer research and train the business leaders of the future has officially opened at Lancaster University.

The Lancaster Leadership Centre is a joint initiative between the university and the Northwest Development Agency.

The management building includes postgraduate facilities, lecture theatres and an executive suite.

Sir Digby Jones, director general of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), opened the centre on Tuesday.

He said: "Strong, effective and informed leadership is crucial to the success of British business.

"This state-of-the art facility will make a valuable contribution to leadership development across the UK and beyond."

The opening ceremony was attended by business leaders from across the UK.

Professor Keith Grint is director of the centre which employs more than 80 staff.
