'No gimmicks' in Eurovision act
Lisa Andreas performing for Cyprus
Lisa Andreas is opting for no gimmicks - just simplicity
A teenager representing Cyprus in this year's Eurovision Song Contest says she is planning no gimmicks in her performance - just simplicity.

Lisa Andreas, a 16-year-old from Gillingham, told Radio Five Live it would be "just me and my song".

Saturday is her first performance in front of such a big audience, but Lisa has been a solo artist since age 13.

This year viewers can vote for their favourite artist and Lisa's friends have said they will put her on redial.

'Learning to cope'

Speaking on the morning before the contest is held in Istanbul, Turkey, she said: "The concept I have always gone for is simplicity.

"I have got no backing singers, not even on the track.

"On the stage it's just me, and on the video it's just me - it's just me and my song."

And the schoolgirl, who will be wearing a black top with black trousers on the night to sing Stronger Every Minute, said: "I have never had such a big audience as this.

"I am a solo artist and I have been doing it on my own since I was about 13 years old.

"I have got used to the kind of one-to-audience situation and I am learning to cope with it, in different situations.

"And behind the cameras, there are millions and millions of people."

A pupil at Chatham Grammar School for Girls, the 16-year-old who lives in Gillingham but was born in Cyprus, is clear about her ambitions.

She said: "My mates are well-supportive of me - they said they would have me on redial on the night.

"I'm still at school, but this is what I want to do."
