Cadbury staff appeal to shoppers

Union leaders have held protests at the Cadbury Club in Bournville

Cadbury staff have said they will be taking a petition to keep Cadbury as a UK company to shoppers in north Herefordshire.

Workers at the firm's Marlbrook factory, near Leominster, will be outside shops in the town on Saturday.

The petition calls on people to sign up to the Keep Cadbury Independent campaign.

The confectionary firm is the subject of a hostile takeover by US food firm Kraft which has so far been rejected.

Kraft has until 19 January to announce a final, higher offer for Cadbury.

Cadbury is based in Birmingham and also has a plant in Keynsham, Somerset.
