City's festive lights scaled down
The Christmas lights in Hereford are to be scaled down this year.

Several illuminations have been damaged in storms and Herefordshire Council says it cannot afford the 30,000 it would cost to replace them.

As a result, Commercial Road, Eign Gate, Union Street and St Owen's Street will be without their festive lights.

Councillor George Hyde said: "It's far more important to the whole of the area that High Town, especially, is well-lit to bring the shoppers in."
