Arrest over hair-in-hand murder
Heather Barnett
Hair was found in Heather Barnett's hands
A 32-year-old Italian man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Dorset mother-of-two.

Heather Barnett's body was found in her bathroom in Bournemouth by her children in November 2002, with hair in her hands that was not hers.

Danilo Restivo, of Chatsworth Road, Charminster, was arrested on Tuesday morning and is being questioned.

Detectives want to talk to any woman who has had hair cut by a stranger on a bus in the last four years.

Det Supt Phil James told BBC News Online: "The story is that Heather Barnett had hair placed in both her hands when she was found.

"The line we are taking is that the hair may have been cut by the offender from a female while travelling on a bus."

The 48-year-old seamstress was found at her Charminster home by her children Caitlin, 11, and Terry, 14, when they returned from school.

She had been stabbed and beaten with a hammer-like weapon.
