More than 120 firefighters remain at the scene of a massive fire in an industrial estate.

The fire at a warehouse on the Tower Industrial Estate, Bishopstoke, near Eastleigh, Hampshire, began about midday on Wednesday.

Firefighters were concerned that the roof of the warehouse may have contained asbestos and residents in Bishopstoke, Fair Oak and Bishop's Waltham were advised to close their windows as a precaution.

On Wednesday night, Hampshire Police said there was no longer any danger from asbestos but still urged residents to keep their windows and doors shut because of the smoke.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service say the fire was started by a number of exploding cigarette lighters at the building belonging to Import Services UK Ltd.

The warehouse is thought to have contained thousands of pounds worth of Christmas goods.

Witnesses have reported seeing thick black plumes of smoke from miles around.

Planes into nearby Southampton Airport have been ordered to change flight path.

Firefighters are using a relay system to drain water from a nearby river to pour onto the building, which has now partially collapsed.
