Couple face fine over missing dog

The couple put up over 1,000 posters
A couple who put up posters to trace their missing dog have been threatened with a £1,000 fine.

Brad Morgan and Katie Loveitt put up home-made "missing" posters all over Portsmouth when their one-year-old Shitzu puppy Charlie ran off.

But council officials say there are too many posters, and some are in places where they could distract drivers.

They are threatening to take the couple to court for flyposting unless they remove some of them.

Charlie ran off when the front door of the couple's home was left open.

"Since then we've put up about 1,000 posters in the local area", said Mr Morgan.

"We've done lampposts, bollards, traffic lights, zebra crossings, dog bins and local parks."

He said they did not think it was fair to say they had been flyposting.

"We're not advertising a club or a gig or a bar - we're just trying to get our loved one back", he said.

A spokesman for Portsmouth City Council said: "We do not have a problem with a few posters but this is too many."
