The Swedish furniture giant Ikea has been granted permission to build a superstore in Southampton.
The city's former Pirelli site has been earmarked for the store
The decision was unanimously passed by the council's planning committee, although councillors still have concerns about traffic congestion.
The development on the former Pirelli site, on West Quay Road, will see a store built over four floors with 900 car parking spaces.
The company claims the store will also create 500 jobs locally.
Ikea estimates the new store will attract two million customers a year and the generate an annual turnover of £55m.
The furniture firm has been trying to find a site in the south for years and it is its third attempt to open a store in the city.
