Woman makes tortoise theft plea
Mrs Ware hopes thieves will return the tortoise
A grandmother has pleaded for thieves who stole the tortoise she was given as a Christmas present to return the pet.

Ruby Ware, from Hampshire, was given Freddy the tortoise by her husband on 20 December as an early present.

But the pet was stolen on Christmas Eve by a burglar who broke in while she was being distracted by doorstep caller.

Mrs Ware, from Havant, says the theft has upset her grandchildren and has called on the thieves to return Freddy as a New Year's present.

She said: "My four-year-old grandson comes in everyday and asks where Freddy is and when he will be back.

"We have told him that Freddy has gone for a walk, because we don't want to really upset him.

"I had wanted a tortoise for ages, and was so happy to get him. We were devastated when he was stolen.

"I would say to anyone who has Freddy to hand him back, as it would be the perfect New Year's present to get him home."
