Dozens take plunge into icy lido

Dozens braved the icy waters of Cheltenham's Sandford Lido to have a traditional Christmas dip in the outdoor pool.

With the water being about 5C (41F) a lido spokeswoman said people were being asked to sign a disclaimer.

"This asks people to confirm they are aware of the temperature and the possible risks involved and that they take the challenge on themselves."

The annual event has been happening for the past 70 years.

The normally heated lido reopens on 2 May.
