Customers flee restaurant robbery

A masked robber pointed a gun at staff during a raid at an Essex restaurant.

Customers fled when the man entered the McDonald's in Waltham Abbey carrying what appeared to be a small handgun.

He threatened staff and forced them to open the till, took money from it and then ran out of the restaurant, dropping some of the money as he went.

Essex Police appealed for witnesses to the robbery on Friday to contact them. They said the robber was a tall black man, wearing a ski mask and hooded top.
