Poole hit-and-run driver sought over ambulance crash

A hit-and-run driver is being sought by police after a car crashed into an ambulance on a 999 call in Dorset and then failed to stop.

The saloon car was travelling in the same direction as the ambulance when the crash happened in Poole Road, in the Branksome area of Poole, on Friday.

The emergency blue lights were flashing on the ambulance and its horn was being sounded at the time. No-one was hurt.

CCTV footage of the scene is being studied to try to identify the driver.

No more details are known about the car, other than it was black.

The driver drove off towards Westbourne following the collision.

Sgt Simon Perry said: "Part of the front offside bumper and headlamp glass from the car were left at the scene of the collision and I am examining this debris, as well as CCTV pictures of the scene, in order to identify the car and the driver."
