Charge over man injured in street

Police found the 56-year-old man lying in Derby Road

A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a man was attacked in a Dorset street.

Police were called to Derby Road, Bournemouth, early on Wednesday afternoon and found a 56-year-old local man lying injured in the road.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with head injuries, where his condition is now said to be stable.

Andre Mergulhao, 22, is due to appear at Bournemouth Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon.
