The zoo faces stiff competition from other attractions
A Devon zoo is in the running for a top tourism award.

Paignton Zoo has been nominated as a finalist in the category of Best Attraction for Group Visits in the 2004 Group Travel Organiser Awards.

The zoo is likely to face stiff competition from other national attractions such as Cadbury World, the Eden Project and Alton Towers.

The winners will be announced at a gala awards evening which takes place on Friday 4 June at a London hotel.

Paignton Zoo Head of Marketing Pippa Craddock said: "The awards .. reflect a highly valued endorsement from customers in this most important market sector.

"It means there are numerous groups who have been very pleased with our services."
