Armed police deal with youth gang

Armed police officers were called to deal with a large gang of about 100 youths in Derby city centre.

Police said they had been told that one of the group, congregating around Friargate on Saturday night, was carrying a firearm.

But officers searched some of the group and spoke to others, and nothing was found.

Police said there was no malice involved and the group, who had been to a party, were dispersed peacefully.
