Bike used in robbery at jewellers

Two thieves rode into a Warwickshire shopping centre on a motorbike and broke into a jewellers, stealing luxury watches valued at £45,200.

Police said the thieves smashed the window of Ernest Jones in Leamington Spa's Royal Priors Shopping Centre and took 10 Rolex watches from the display.

Staff were threatened with a lump hammer in the incident at about 1000 BST on Tuesday but no-one was hurt.

The thieves escaped on the bike, which had been stolen in Manchester in June.

Police said the two thieves were seen leaving in the direction of Warwick Street.

Tinted glass

The two offenders, who could have been male or female, pushed past the shop manager but threatened them with a crowbar and walked inside the store after smashing its front window.

They then unsuccessfully tried to break through the security screen.

Neither offender spoke throughout the incident and they both wore black leather jackets, gloves and helmets.

The helmets had full-face visors with tinted glass.

Pc John Bell, of West Mercia Police, said the red Honda bike was reported stolen on 18 June.

He urged anyone who saw the robbery to contact police.
