A new bus timetable will come into force from Sunday
|
Bus users in Cornwall have been given less than a week to familiarise themselves with timetable changes to bus services across the county. Cornwall Council announced the changes on Monday, six days before they come into effect, with some bus users concerned by the short notice. The changes follow re-tendering of services by the council to ensure tax payers are receiving value for money. The council said that the changes were "the reality of bus operations". Week 'not enough' Steve Nicholson, public transport officer, said: "Some of these changes have to be done near enough at the last moment because of the scale of the thing. "Many of the services have increased in frequency, so people will probably find things a lot better rather than worse." Phil Tonks, from Bus Users UK, said: "I don't think a week is really enough notice. I'd certainly hope to see these sort of things given at least three to four weeks in advance, maybe even longer." The new timetables have been published and are available from bus stations and libraries. Changes to the bus services will commence from Sunday 27 September 2009.
