Pupils taste pasty shirt success

The distinctive pasty and St Piran's logo is proving very successful
Pupils who started a business as part of a school project are now selling their products in shops in Cornwall.

Red Threads is a T-shirt company run by students from Truro School with an entrepreneurial flair.

The project is part of the Young Enterprise scheme, which is designed to give young people the chance to run a real business.

The clothes are also on sale on the internet and an order for 600 shirts has been taken for a school in London.

Cornish symbols

More than 1,000 T-shirts have now been sold by the pupils and they are planning to continue the company after they leave school.

One of the best selling designs is a T-shirt with a Cornish pasty and St Piran's flag logo.

Student Adam Hadley says the team is delighted with the success of Red Threads.

He said: "Given the popularity of our designs, we're very much hoping we can continue the project.

"A pasty company has also shown interest in buying our design, but we don't want to sell the design if there's the potential for us to continue."

Red Threads is reported to be making a healthy profit for shareholders and directors with the T-shirts selling like hot cakes - or should that be like hot pasties.
