Chef celebrates restaurant honour
Daniel Clifford
Daniel Clifford credits his win to a constantly changing menu
A Cambridge chef is celebrating after his restaurant became the only new one in the UK to receive two stars in the prestigious Michelin Guide.

Daniel Clifford, chef at the Midsummer House restaurant, Cambridge, credits his win to an ever-changing and inventive menu.

Just 11 other restaurants in Britain and Ireland have won the honour.

"We all went out last night...I'm over the moon, it's everything I've ever dreamed about," said Mr Clifford, 31.

A restaurant spokeswoman said that Mr Clifford, 31, experiments with flavours for up to six hours at a time in his "scientific laboratory" in the kitchens.

"He's constantly looking for new ways to change the menu, it's a real passion for him. Three stars are definitely within his reach," she added.

The results were disclosed in the newly published 2005 restaurant guide.

The Michelin Guide has been handing out recommendations on hotels and restaurants for more than 100 years.
