World flight celebrates 10 years

Brian Jones and Bertrand Piccard
The ballooning duo circumnavigated the world in 20 days

A Bristol company has made a replica of the original balloon that first circumnavigated the world, in 1999.

The balloon will commemorate the tenth anniversary of the non-stop flight, made by Brian Jones and Bertrand Piccard on 17 March.

The ballooning duo were the first to circumnavigate the world in 20 days, in the Breitling Orbiter 3 balloon, breaking seven world records.

Cameron Balloons in Bristol has made the replica of the original balloon.

The flight covered 28,431 miles (45,755 km) and created world records for duration, distance, altitude and speed.

Brian Jones, from Lydford in Somerset, said he did not realise at the time how monumental the flight was.
