Fresh additions for zoo facility

The agouti is native to South America's rainforests

A zoo farm near Bristol has welcomed a new pair of agouties from South America.

Agouties are native to the rainforests of the continent and are rodents similar to the capybara and Guinea pig.

The animals have arrived at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm which specialises in conservation projects.

"Many of the species who live here are endangered in the wild, mainly due to human factors," said a spokesman for the zoo, situated near Clevedon.
