Man hit on head on building site

A lift engineer is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a falling object while working on a building site in Bristol.

The 50-year-old man was winched out of a lift shaft in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.

He was taken to Frenchay hospital where his injuries are described as life-threatening.

Health and Safety Inspectors have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident.
