Aardman creates film for Tussauds

Aliens study famous earthlings in the new Aardman Animations' film
Bristol-based Aardman Animations has created a new visitor attraction called The Wonderful World of Stars at Madame Tussauds London.

The 20-minute film has been designed especially for projection on the famous dome of Tussauds.

Aardman director Stefan Marjoram came up with the idea, which was realised under the direction of founding bosses David Sproxton and Peter Lord.

Aardman's hallmarks of wry humour and a twisted take on life are all present.

The tale explores the notion of earthly fame, but with an otherworldly twist.

Legendary earthlings - from Marilyn Monroe to Mohamed Ali - are enthusiastically studied by aliens, who are a bit muddled about their subject matter.

The excited aliens embark on a quest to understand those who have achieved eminence.

Madame Tussauds began working with Aardman in June 2005, with the aim of creating a Stardome visitor experience that fits within the rest of the attraction.

The renowned oxidised copper plate dome was created by Madame Tussauds, originally to house its London Planetarium show.

The attraction is due to open on 14 July marking the official reopening of the Stardome.
