A man who was convicted of murdering his ex-wife more than 17 years ago has absconded from Leyhill Open Prison in South Gloucestershire.

He was reported missing by prison officers on Tuesday morning.

He is described as white, 5ft 8in tall, medium build, with blue eyes and grey hair. He was clean-shaven. Police said anyone who spots him should call 999.
