Development and funding partners are being sought for a 300m science and technology park near Bristol.

The project, at Emerson's Green in South Gloucestershire, aims to rival the size and scope of similar centres in Cambridge and Oxford.

The South West Regional Development Agency (RDA) which is looking for partners, has bought 21 hectares of land and committed 30m to the project.

About 6,000 new jobs are expected, with building work due to start in 2006.

Ian Thompson, from the RDA, said: "We already have a partnership with Bristol University, Bath University and the University of the West of England on this project.

"Now we are looking for a committed developer with a proven track record to work with us to create one of the leading Science Parks in Europe."
