'Impact' fears halt turbines plan
Campaigners have won their fight to stop two huge wind turbines being built in Somerset.

People living in Cucklington opposed the 100-metre high structures, thought to be some of the highest planned to be built in the South West.

South Somerset councillors rejected the plan saying the turbines would have an unacceptable impact.

Opponents of the turbines say the development could cause a 25% slump in house prices.

Ecotricity, the company proposing the turbines, said the scheme would have powered about 3,000 homes.

The plan was one of two in the county. The company is planning to build another mast near Chewton Mendip.
