Members of a Berkshire reading library are being given the chance to try out a home energy monitor to help keep an eye on their electricity use. Newbury Library is lending the monitors to residents for up to three weeks. The gadget shows how much energy is being used, how much it is costing and is designed to help households cut their energy consumption. The scheme is organised by the Greener Sub-Partnership, an organisation led by West Berkshire Council. West Berkshire's leisure and culture councillor Pamela Bale said: "I am pleased that we are able to lend these energy monitors from Newbury Library. "I would encourage anyone who is interested in reducing their energy costs to borrow one of these devices." The loan scheme is also being operated by The Community Furniture Project in Queens Road.
