Residents and businesses are being asked whether they support plans to introduce charges in some parking bays on the streets of a Berkshire town. Wokingham Borough Council wants drivers to pay at the town centre's 240 spaces, which have a 30-minute limit but "get clogged up" easily. The consultation began on Thursday and residents, traders and retailers have 21 days to make their comments. A decision will be made by the council in September. The council said: "The spaces are often abused by long-stay motorists - clogging them up so that they are not available for people wanting to use them to go to the bank, pick up some shopping or run a small errand. "Therefore, the council has suggested that a charge to park in the bays could be introduced to discourage people from parking in them for hours on end. "
